Q: What is the capacity of The Boathouse Shelly Beach
A: The Boathouse Shelly Beach can hold up to 60 guests for a seated + 120 guests canape style in our upstairs area. Downstairs can accommodate up to 200 guests canape style
Q: What is included in the Venue Hire Fee?
A: The venue hire includes exclusive use of Shelly Beach for 5 hours, The Boathouse Team to set up, pack down, + to take care of you + your guests for the duration of your Wedding or Event, floral displays in the entrance + main room, standard table settings, causal lounge areas, dance space + general venue styling.
Q: What does a standard table set-up include?
A: Tables + napkins, white dinner plates, white side plates, cutlery, + glassware.
Q: What is the longest time frame for which we can hold our Wedding or Event?
A: 7 hours is the maximum time frame for which you may hire Shelly Beach - this would include your standard 5 hour Reception, + 1 hour Ceremony Extension, + 1 Hour Party Extension. Any 1 hour Extension involves a $750.00 Venue Hire Fee + a per person cost for your unlimited chosen Beverage Package.
Q: Are we able to hire the Bollinger Boat for any Beverage Package?
A: You must have Bollinger Special Cuvée selected as your Champagne option in your unlimited beverage package to be able to hire the Bollinger Boat. Bollinger Special Cuvée is included in Beverage Package Three, or you may opt for a Bollinger upgrade if Beverage Package One or Two is chosen.
Q: Can we opt for a bar tab or beverages on consumption for our Reception?
A: The prepaid unlimited beverage package for your entire guest number is the only option at Moby Dicks.
Q: Do you have spirit options?
A: We do not have spirits available, however, you may provide your own bottles of sprits, + we will charge $40.00 per bottle for corkage. The spirits will be served from behind the bar, after main meal service, + must be mixed - we do not allow shots, or service of alcohol neat or on the rocks.
Q: When can our vendors have full access to the venue?
A: Access is 2 hours prior. Earlier access can be confirmed closer to the date depending on other bookings
Q: How many Boathouse Team are scheduled for our Reception?
A: Approximately one Team member per 15 guests.
Q: Will our Event Coordinator be present on the day?
A: Yes, your Coordinator will be present at the beginning of your Wedding or Event to ensure that all is running smoothly + as planned.
Q: Do you charge a fee for cake cutting + service?
A: Cake cutting is complimentary.
Q: Do you have restrictions for bands regarding number of members + level of noise?
A: We do not have a restriction on the number of pieces in a band, or the level of sound at which they play. All music must cease, however, by 11:00pm. Sundays require a conclusion of 10.00pm
Q: Do you cater for our guests with special dietary requirements?
A: Yes, we do! Please list all guests in our Special Meal Requirements section on your Final Details Form, + we will cater for their needs
Q: Will there be another Wedding or Event booked on the same day?
A: This is possible. We do allow for sufficient enough time between each of our bookings if this is to happen
Q: Do our vendors need to be seated at a guest table for their meal?
A: They may be seated at a guest table if they happen to be a friend or acquaintance, however, most vendors will be happy to be seated just outside of the venue. We charge $70.00pp for your vendors, + provide a plated main meal + full beverage package.
Q: Do you offer an option for our Ceremony in the case of wet weather?
A: If you have the upstairs area booked this can be provided at an additional cost, depending on availability. If you hold your reception downstairs you can hire the upstairs area for your ceremony
Q: Who do we contact in regards to booking an off-site location for our Ceremony?
A: The Northern Beaches Council.
Q: Do you provide Ceremony styling options?
A: Yes, we have The Boathouse Ceremony Styling Package which may be set at any location on the Northern Beaches or on-site - please contact your venue Coordinator to check that this is available for your date.
Q: Can you help us to arrange drinks + refreshments for our off-site Ceremony?
A: Yes, we are able to provide a refreshment station at your Ceremony (if located on the Northern Beaches) - please contact your venue Coordinator to check the availability of this package for your date, + to select beverage options.
Q: Where can guests smoke?
A: 50 metres away from the venue when the café is still open. If the cage is closed + your event is upstairs you can smoke in the pergola area just downstairs
Q: When do I need to have my Final Details Form due?
A: 4 weeks before your Event.
Q: When is my Final Invoice due?
A: 3 weeks before your Event.
Q: When are the final guest numbers for my event due?
A: 4 weeks before your Event.
Q: Can I add guests after I have paid my final invoice?
A: Yes, you are able to add guests up to the day of your event.
Q: Can I have a refund for any guests that drop out from the guest list after the 3 week mark?
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to refund after the Final Invoice is issued, and the final guest number is given at 3 weeks out.
Q: Can I leave my wedding or event items at The Boathouse + pick up the following day?
A: You are welcome to do this, however all gifts + cards must be taken home by an allocated guest, or family member on the night of the event, and are not to be kept overnight at the venue.
